What is Light Intensity (Candela)?

Thought to be derived from the English word "candle" meaning candle, "Candela" (kandela) is used for luminous intensity. Candela refers to the luminous intensity produced by a light source in a single direction. This luminous intensity is expressed in candela (cd) is measured in units.

When a lens is used within the light source that focuses the light to a single point, the cd value is much higher at that point. Likewise, laser lights or spotlights also produce more intense cd. Therefore cd unit, bar LED models can be considered as a value that is not used very often.
