What is Duy? Let's look for answers to the question. The lampholder is the place where a lamp is installed in the shortest way. The lampholder, which makes the electrical connection of the lamp, also undertakes the mechanical fixing task. Lampholders with bulb sockets can be replaced with a new one when they fail. In addition, height adjustment can be made by shortening and lengthening the cable to which the lampholder is connected.
Most Commonly Used Lampholder Types
The lampholder, which provides the energy connection of the lamps, is used in all living spaces such as home, workplace, shopping centre, public building. The standardised lampholder types, which are standardised in order to be easily found when desired or to have the opportunity to choose between alternative manufacturers, also allow the production of standard lamps or bulbs.
The type of lampholder, denoted by the first letter of Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, is also varied by two numbers. These two numbers basically give the diameter of the lampholder in millimetres. For example, the E27 type lampholder has a diameter of 27 mm, while the E14 type lampholder, which is sold as a thin lampholder in the market, is produced with a diameter of 14 mm. Both types of lampholders answer the question "Edison Screw".
E27 is known as the most commonly used lampholder type. The screw type lampholder allows the bulb to be easily installed. The E14 type lampholder, which is produced with a thinner structure, is preferred for candle bulbs or economical small bulbs used for decorative purposes.
Does Duy Malfunction?
The lampholders, which are generally not expected to fail, are a mechanical connection element. When the lampholders are under high temperature for a long time, their structure may deteriorate or they may be damaged when they are forced during the bulb insertion and removal process. Apart from these, there may be corrosion on the conductive parts of the lampholders that receive moisture in the outdoor environment. Therefore, lampholders used in open spaces must be insulated against water, dust and moisture.
Most of the lampholders commonly sold in the market are made of plastic material. Ceramic lampholders are produced for high temperature places such as ovens or saunas.
What are the Duy Properties?
Various types of lampholders have different electrical resistance according to the conductor contact area, cross-section or diameter. For example;
- E5 and E10 type lampholders 24 Volt
- E14, E17 and E27 type lampholders 220 Volt
What to Consider When Buying Duy?
Firstly, the lampholder type must be determined correctly in order to be compatible with the bulb to be used. For example, a normal bulb cannot be installed in an E14 lampholder. For this bulb, a normal lampholder, i.e. E27 lampholder, should be purchased. There are also adapters that convert E27 to E14 in the market.
If a lampholder is to be selected for a design, decorative lampholders produced in different colours and appearances should be preferred. If a high-end bulb with high power is to be used, it should be learnt how many watts the lampholder can withstand maximum power.
